How to use this word finder app:
- Languages: ENABLE 2K is the Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon word list, and it is apparently
used by various word games. The other languages consist of freely available word lists in those languages.
- Valid Letters: Enter known letters in their correct positions. Use * or spaces for unknown letters.
- Misplaced Letters: Enter letters that are in the word but in the wrong position.
Format: LetterPosition,Position;LetterPosition,Position.
e.g. a1,4;s2,3,5 means 'a' is not in position 1 or 4
and 's' is not in position 2, 3, or 5.
- Excluded Letters: Enter letters that are not in the word.
- Special Tiles: Enter the positions of special tiles (double letter score, triple letter score, etc.)
as numbers. For example, "2 3" means the 1st letter is a double letter score and the 3rd letter
is a triple letter score.
- Target Word Value: A word's value must be equal to this number to be a match. This takes into
account any special tiles (see above) that may be in the word. This is optional.
- >= Checkbox: If this box is checked, then only words with a value greater than or equal to the
target word value will be considered a match. This box is disabled if no value is entered for the target word
value. This is optional
- Maximum Matches: Select the maximum number of word matches to return.
- Game: Choose between Words with Friends or Scrabble to determine letter/word values.
This currently works for English and is somewhat working for French. All diacritics are treated as their non-diacritics
values and ligatures (Œ,Æ) may not be correctly calculated. Other languages that use Latin letters will use English values
for similar letters and languages that don't use Latin characters (e.g. Greek) will most likely return a 0 for word value.
